The teaching of Ashtanga Vinyasa flow is based on the latest medical research in field of human musculoskeletal system, which states that any muscular stretch held less than thirty seconds has no significant outcome. Our ancient yogis were aware of the fact, so they suggested staying in a particular asana for 5-10 deep Ujjayi breath, which will take 30 to 40 seconds to perform.
On the other hand performing a magnitude of asanas in a sequence gives an effective deep stretch to the muscles from different angles without injury. It keeps the body warm and ready for going deeper into the pose.
In order to overcome the fatigue and recover from the intensity of practice students will practice restorative yoga classes once a week in the afternoons. Yoga props will be actively used in Restorative Classes under the guidance of a yoga teacher, who has had the training to use the props correctly.
You will practice the following sequences created spontaneously by the teacher :
